What ships
  • Two display variants: modal (centred card) and banner (fixed top-of-page strip)
  • Three banner placements: overlay (no layout shift), pushdown (page content drops below it), or inline (scrolls away with the page)
  • One-shot dismiss - once an end user closes it, they don’t see it again
  • Optional CTA button with label + URL; opens in the same tab or a new tab; clicks recorded as a separate event
  • Same targeting + triggers as tours: URL match, traits, page-load, event-based
  • Banner and modal can co-exist on the page; only one of each runs at a time
How it works

Announcements, in detail.

01

Pick the weight that fits the news.

A modal interrupts: centred card, backdrop, the user has to acknowledge it. Use it for things that change what people can do, like a pricing change or a breaking migration. A banner informs: a strip across the top of the page that stays out of the way. Use it for "v2 is live" or "maintenance Sunday 2am".

02

Three banner placements, because layout shift is a real cost.

Overlay floats above the page and moves nothing. Pushdown reserves space and drops the page content below it, so nothing is covered. Inline sits in the document and scrolls away with it. You choose per announcement, so a critical notice can push down while a soft nudge overlays.

03

One dismiss, remembered.

Dismiss state is stored per end user. Once someone closes an announcement they will not see it again on another device or after clearing the page. The optional CTA records its clicks as a separate event, so you can see reach and click-through side by side in analytics and forward them to Slack or a webhook.

Plans. Starter includes three announcements, Growth ten. Scale and Enterprise are unlimited. All plans get both variants and all three banner placements. See pricing

Common questions

Announcements FAQ.

Straight answers. If yours isn't here, email hello@steppr.io and a founder replies.

Only if you want it to. The overlay placement floats above the page with no layout shift. Pushdown deliberately moves content below the banner so nothing is covered. Inline scrolls with the page.

Yes. Announcements use the same targeting and trigger rules as tours: URL match, user traits from steppr.identify(), page load, URL change, or a named steppr.track() event.

Yes. One banner and one modal can run on the same page simultaneously. Only one of each is shown at a time, so two eligible banners will not stack.
